Holidays are among the highlights of many people’s lives, and the joy of creating such special experiences for her clients is the reason Michelle loves her job.
“I once designed a honeymoon for a couple who had never been overseas before,” says Michelle. “I managed to pull off an itinerary that ticked their wish list of USA, Croatia and Maldives. Their excitement was priceless and they had the most amazing time. It’s incredible to be part of something that makes people happy.”
Michelle is a ski travel specialist and has carved the slopes of many gorgeous mountains through Europe, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. However, ask her about her favourite destination and you’ll find the answer a long way from the snow.
“I would have to say Kenya. I loved the people, the properties and the amazing wildlife. Visiting a Maasai village and playing with the kids is one of my favourite travel memories to date.”
Michelle has more show stopping moments to share from her travels to Kenya.
“When we arrived in Nairobi we saw wildlife before we even reached our hotel from the airport. And then there was hot air ballooning over the Maasai Mara, which changed my life. We saw so much from the air and it was an unforgettable experience.”
Throughout her 20 plus years in the travel industry, Michelle has journeyed to 28 countries and gathered personal knowledge and client recommendations that range from off-the-beaten path to smack bang in the middle of New York.
“For the true New York experience, stay in the Marriot right on Times Square. What an experience! You can’t help but be immersed in the energy of one of the most memorable cities in the world.”
For a more serene escape, Michelle recommends Aitutaki in the Cook Islands.
“Aitutaki is like a postcard from paradise, with its impossibly blue water and pure white sands. We did a fantastic day trip, which I highly recommend for exploring beyond the surface of this heavenly destination.”
Michelle has also journeyed to The Great Wall of China, and can advise on the best ways to enjoy this world wonder.
“One of my favourite moments at The Great Wall was simply standing up the top and gazing out along the wall as far as the eye could see. It’s so beautiful, and relaxing into the moment helps you to really appreciate the ancient marvel you are experiencing.”
