Ever heard of armchair travel? It’s the sensation of being transported on a journey by watching travel TV shows, reading holiday stories or browsing tourism websites. Lucy Cameron enjoys this feeling every day as a Travel Associates advisor, but her medium is organising and hearing about the travels of her clients.
“I get to live out my passion every single day,” explains Lucy. “Researching a destination, putting together a detailed itinerary and hearing all about the holiday when my client returns allows me to experience the joy of travel on a daily basis.”
Lucy has also done plenty of travel in the more traditional sense of the word, with 50 countries under her belt, including bucket list beauties such as Zimbabwe, Israel and Madagascar. It must be hard to choose a favourite country with so many to choose from, but Lucy says the French had her at allô.
“I adore the French people, their incredible food, the intriguing culture and the delicious wine,” raves Lucy. “The French are so proudly, fiercely loyal to their way of life, and I find their love of their country and culture truly inspiring.”
“Paris is my absolute favourite travel destination. Staying in the Marais, strolling through the famous streets and soaking up that enchanting atmosphere before stopping for some exquisite local cuisine and a glass of delectable wine – it’s Paris, pure and simple.”
As well as being an expert on all things oh là là, Lucy loves recommending freewheeling travel; including trekking and kayaking – just some aspects of her adventure travel specialisation. She is also known as a cruise expert with an itinerary to suggest for everyone, whether you’re dreaming of a river cruise through idyllic European waterways or setting off on a multi-leg sea voyage.
One of her most memorable moments as a travel advisor was booking a spur-of-the-moment, round the world cruise for a client whose travel needs had changed.
“I had a client who no longer wanted to go through the process of getting on a plane to fly somewhere. I suggested a world cruise. I booked my clients on at the last minute and they were absolutely ecstatic.”

What is your number one travel tip?
Make sure you have your valid passport, necessary visas, and a credit card when travelling. Everything else can be replaced or sorted along the way if needed.
What are your favourite destinations and why?
France is my favourite destination for its diversity, from Parisian streets to Bordeaux's vineyards and the Côte d'Azur. The food, the language, and the people create an immersive travel experience that feels timeless - I never get tired of visiting France.
How do you go above and beyond for your clients?
By being available whenever my clients need me, whether during the planning stage or while they’re overseas. I make sure to address any concerns promptly and personally, ensuring they feel supported and cared for every step of the way. Their peace of mind is my priority.
Where is still on your bucket list?
A luxury cruise on the Northwest Passage is definitely a bucket-list dream for me. The idea of navigating the historic route, surrounded by stunning Arctic landscapes is truly captivating.
