“Japan literally has something to offer everyone at any time of the year,” says Melita. “I loved the dazzling lights of Tokyo with it's vastly different prefectures, where I got lost for days, but I was equally enchanted with the dramatically beautiful gardens and shrines around Kyoto where the autumn leaves painted a fiery red and orange back drop.”

Japan may be Melita’s favourite at the moment, but her most enduring travel memories come from Africa.

“My single favourite life-changing travel memory was definitely my trip to Kenya and Tanzania. There were multiple ‘pinch myself’ moments, such as travelling in hot air balloon high above the Serengeti during the spectacular wildebeest migration.”

“Another moment was when I took a cruise at dawn on a small boat on Lake Nakuru weaving through hippopotamus pods while watching the flaming pink flamingos take flight, or when I stood completely in awe of the beauty of nature as I sat in my lodge watching the clouds literally roll over Ngorongoro Crater”
