The trip promises encounters with iconic wildlife and enriching engagement with local Amazonian communities.
Abercrombie & Kent have revealed their latest jewel: the Peruvian Riverboat, signalling their entry into the realm of South American river cruising.
Drawing on 25 years of extensive exploration in Peru and leadership in luxury Nile riverboat journeys, this brand new A&K itinerary promises an unparalleled voyage through the wonders of Peru's majestic Amazon rainforest.
The Ship
Stepping aboard the new riverboat could be akin to stepping inside a 5 star boutique hotel. The boat features ten double and two single cabins, each offering guests a tranquil haven amidst the vibrant life of the Amazon. The ship will have a 1:1 staff to guest ratio.
Throughout the ship, echoes of the Amazon's rich culture are evident, from the dining experiences to the interiors and wellness activities, all inspired by authentic Amazonian traditions.
Itineraries
The riverboat's 3 and 4-night itineraries delve deep into the heart of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, where guests can enjoy fishing, kayaking, jungle walks and encounters with the myriad of animals that call the rainforest home.
These voyages can be combined to create an immersive 7-night experience, exploring both the Marañon and Ucayali rivers.
Community Connection
Like all A&K experiences, the journey will prioritise authentic engagement with local communities, ensuring that the benefits of tourism are shared with all who call the Amazon home.
Guests onboard the Peruvian riverboat will be invited to visit local schools, engage with community members, and learn about traditional ways of life, fostering a profound sense of place and a deeper understanding of the Amazon's rich cultural heritage.
Embarking on its maiden voyage in April 2025, all itineraries will begin and end in the port town of Nauta. Bookings for the new Peruvian riverboat will open in June.
