Fine white sands between your toes; swaying palms giving way to jungle-clad interiors; and some of the clearest, most beautiful waters on earth. Who could resist such a picture-perfect scene? Mauritius is about as idyllic as an island paradise can get – a place where blindingly beautiful vistas meet carefree relaxation and the kind of all-inclusive luxury that means you don’t have to lift a finger.
Three Travel Associates advisors recently stopped by this tropical haven off the southeast coast of Africa to experience not just one, but two incredible Club Med resorts. Here’s a glimpse of their most blissful moments for a taste of what it’s all about – tried and tested.
Club Med La Plantation d’Albion
Gorgeous, inviting villas
The villas were wonderfully warm and welcoming with bright colours – with lovely oranges and pinks – that made the rooms feel very inviting, large and spacious. With huge beds, large bathrooms and lovely rainshowers, the villas also had a nice, big communal area and an incredibly spacious outdoor area topped off with its own pool.

Themed nights a hit
I really recommend guests join in the fun at themed nights. They really unite guests and the atmosphere is something really special. White Night was especially a hit for us – the entertainment was amazing. With lovely white tables all set up around the pool, lots of dancing and a spectacular acrobatic performance, I’ll never forget it. From themed nights to water activities and trapeze, there’s ALWAYS something happening at Club Med.

Dining with a view
Who can deny the romance and allure of dining with beautiful beachfront views? That’s exactly what you get at both The Distillerie and The Phare – two beautiful spots to eat. The Phare is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a sunset dinner as the sky puts on a show (just be sure to pre-book!). But my favourite dish was at The Distillerie – a perfectly cooked rib eye steak that melted in your mouth – washed down with an exquisite gin and berry cocktail!

Lush gardens in tropical paradise
From the minute I stepped inside the beautiful reception area, I was stunned by the gorgeous high ceilings and the open-air beauty of it all, overlooking the beautiful blues of the ocean. Wandering to my room and throughout the resort in the days ahead, the lush, green gardens were stunning in every direction.

Amazing staff and service
On arrival we were greeted by Genevieve, the GO in charge and she was amazing. She was so lovely and warm and she really knew her stuff! The staff were all exceptional and truly personable. Even the resort itself is really welcoming, with its large foyer with high ceilings and breezy feel, and a great central layout with everything close by.

Ocean views from bed
The sea view from my ample balcony had me at hello! Just imagine spending lazy mornings listening to the water and watching the palms sway in the breeze – there’s no better way to welcome the day. Also, the bathroom was massive. Any girl with a large make up kit would be happy with double basins and big rainshowers!

Fun on crystal-clear waters
Snorkelling and glass bottom boat rides are a sure highlight on the long list of amazing activities. We were lucky as the turquoise waters were clear and calm, so we were able to see a variety of fish, starfish and marine life through the goggles – at one point we were completely surrounded by a school of little black and white Zebrafish darting everywhere. It was so surreal! And on good days, sea turtles and dolphins are right around you.

Beachfront dining by candlelight
I would recommend The Paul & Virginie for anyone looking for a quieter dining experience, or for couples looking for something really special, as they can arrange a candlelit dining experience on the beach in front of the restaurant. By day, it’s an idyllic spot by the beach, just metres from the water. My favourite dish was The Belle Creole, a little starter of tomato and raspberry chutney with fresh baby bocconcini – delicious flavours, and light and fresh for a hot day.
