Known for its crystal blue, coral filled waters, New Caledonia continues to be one of the most popular South Pacific destinations. This idyllic island offers a certain je ne sais quoi not typically found in other nearby tropical destinations and anyone looking to experience the romantic French culture and language need not look any further than these blissfully peaceful atolls just a short flight away from Australia.
Recently, two of our Travel Associate consultants, Kelly Meyen and Bianca Taylor had the pleasure of experiencing first-hand much of what New Caledonia has to offer, thanks to an invitation by Omniche.
Speedboats, Water Sports and Resorts
Travelling to Noumea on Air Calin, the island territory’s very own airline, Kelly and Bianca got an early taste of the warm and friendly service they were about to enjoy on their exciting journey around the islands. From the capitol city of Noumea to the remote oasis of L’Escapade Island and the natural beauty of Isle of Pines, there were utopian pleasures to discover in every cove and around every stretch of sand or quaint village.
With so much to see and do, Bianca and Kelly were ready to set out and explore. “There are great clear waters for many water sports and snorkelling” said Bianca and “L’Escapade is a lovely island that you can catch a speedboat to. Kelly too was amazed at the crystal blue waters. “The water was stunning! It was very clear with lots of beautiful coral.”
What’s an island getaway without a visit to a spa for some pampering? The Chateau Royal Beach Resort in Noumea is where guests can enjoy the wonderfully indulgent Aqua Royal Spa, a full service facility dedicated to health, well being and beauty for an all encompassing visit assured to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit.
On further inspection of the property, Kelly noted the spaciousness and convenience of the Chateau Royal’s accommodation side. The property is “rated as a 3 star but I would give it 4 stars.” The functional but attractive rooms are “modern and clean with large rooms and a kitchen for convenience” and best of all the property is “right on the beach with a nice pool!” Bianca was in full agreement and particularly enjoyed the fine service, resort rooms and overall facilities, saying this is “A great spa and a fantastic location!”
Both Kelly and Bianca left with many great memories of a unique destination, coming away with the added confidence that only a first-hand experience can bring when recommending a destination to their valued clients. With New Caledonia being one of Travel Associates’ most popular destinations they appreciated not only the island and its many water and land based tours and activities, but also its European influenced culture and Pacific pulse. The South Pacific has lots of many wonderful beach and holiday destinations but both consultants agreed – the cultural flair of this uniquely French destination is what sets this place apart.
