Officially renamed from March 2014, the National Geographic Orion is a modern purpose-built expedition ship designed to carry just 102 guests in great comfort, with a crew of 75 providing attentive yet unobtrusive service.
Onboard and onshore experiences are enhanced by their expedition team including guest speakers—varying by voyage these include marine biologists, naturalists, historians, undersea specialists, ecologists and scientists. Each day varies exploring the river inlets via Zodiac cruising, snorkelling coral reefs or kayaking among glaciers.
The onboard standard of comfort, style and service on the National Geographic Orion complements the natural and cultural wonders you see. It’s carefully appointed staterooms and suites have ocean views, flat-screen TVs, DVD/CD players, marble bathrooms and mini-refrigerators.
Dining options include degustation menus created by one of Australia’s renowned international chefs, Serge Dansereau, principal of Sydney’s The Bathers’ Pavilion with single unassigned seating in the ship’s beautiful restaurant, or a more relaxed atmosphere on the open deck under wide and starry skies.
