Exceptional accommodation can become the crowning jewel of a holiday. Suddenly a place to stay turns into an experience in itself, complete with unique experiences, inspired dining, stunning views and total relaxation.
Three Travel Associates advisors enjoyed an escape with Luxury Lodges of New Zealand, and discovered the difference that can be made by a dedication to the extraordinary.
The Farm at Cape Kidnappers
If you’ve ever wondered what you get when you combine a 6,000-acre farm, jaw-dropping Pacific Ocean views and spectacular architecture, the answer is The Farm at Cape Kidnappers.
From the oversized barn doors to the colossal picture windows, you can’t help but be impressed by the grandeur of the lodge. The luxury continues in the rooms, with rustic furnishings contrasting beautifully with French linen and lofty ceilings.
A picnic on the cliff’s edge is the perfect place to enjoy a top drop from the surrounding Hawkes Bay wineries. Toast your incredible surroundings and laugh at the thought of ever wanting to leave.

The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs
Unspoilt coastline, sweeping cliffs, and secluded beaches - these were my first impressions of The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, and things only got better as I walked inside.
The path from the main lodge meanders through rainforest that is thriving with wildlife, before arriving at your room where you’re greeted by a luxurious sense of space. The generous fireplace, fresh flowers and homemade cookies make you truly feel at home.
From the gourmet picnic packs to the complimentary sunset canapés, the food at The Lodge was a constant luxury, with unforgettable highlights such as the Eggs Benedict with truffle oil and balsamic.

Matakauri Lodge
With a stunning setting on the absolute shorefront of Lake Wakatipu, Matakauri Lodge is a sumptuous retreat surrounded by New Zealand’s vast and staggering beauty. The peace is so complete that you’d never suspect you’re less than ten minutes from Queenstown.
The attention to detail was out of this world, whether it was our server attending to our food preferences or a bespoke range of amenities in our gorgeous Deluxe Suite.
Everything in the lodge is of the highest quality, yet the understated luxury complements nature’s glorious simplicity. The views of the mountains over the lake blew me away, especially when I discovered I could enjoy them from my bathtub!
