Kristy Thomas from Perchalla & Turner Travel Associates recalls her recent trip to Indonesia & Vietnam.
I flew into Singapore with Singapore Airlines and the service was great, as always.
After a 40 minute ferry ride, I arrived at Banyan Tree Bintan Island to discover the perfect mix of jungle and sea. Beautiful pool villas were decorated with gorgeous green surrounds and looked out onto a stretch of pristine white beach.
I was surprised to meet the resident fruit bats, which had made themselves at home on my balcony. It was a reminder of just how immersed we were in Indonesian landscape.
After indulgent dinners and soothing spa treatments, I travelled onto Vietnam.
If you find yourself in this culturally rich destination you must visit Hoi An. Aside from being a beautiful and historical site, it offers great markets, and with some skilful bartering you can snag yourself some great bargains and gifts to take home.
My greatest tip would be to take a poncho - especially if you are travelling in the northern regions from August - October. But even in the wet season, the beauty of this place shines through. The lampposts, lanterns and locals on bikes make for some stunning photographs.
My stay at Banyan Tree Lang Co was nothing less than superb. The service was exceptional, the staff were beautiful and took great pride in remembering all our names. Their attention to detail was unrivalled and they truly added to the resort experience.
