Think of somewhere in the world, anywhere really, and chances are that Karen has been there. As an avid traveller and someone who has worked in the travel industry for more than 23 years, that is the combined result.
From the pyramids of Egypt, to the mountains of Nepal, the shopping malls of Singapore to the markets of Morocco, her experience is vast and varied. Karen has witnessed the wildlife of Kenya, tasted the flavours of Thailand, snowboarded across Canada and trekked the Kokoda of New Guinea.
If you're looking for advice on Europe, Karen can help, having backpacked her way from Slovakia up to Sweden. She says of all the places she has visited, Italy has to be one of her favourites. "I love the people, the food, the history, the architecture and the art," she says. "I've had amazing experiences in Italy, and love to try and emulate a similarly wonderful holiday there for others."
She is well-versed in Asian adventures, and can offer first-hand insights into Sri Lanka,Vietnam, Borneo and Indonesia. If you've been dreaming of ticking off a bucket-list trip to India, be sure to speak to Karen first, as she is particularly fond of this destination.
"I love India, for so many reasons. Of course there is the delicious cuisine and the humble locals, but also, India is filled with incredible light," Karen says. "You have to see it to understand, but trust me, it's something you'll remember."
To escape the pressures of everyday life, Karen recommends a 5-star stay in Hawaii. Or, for something closer to home, she says you can't go past Hayman Island.
Not one to hold back whilst travelling, Karen has some amazing travel tales. Ask her about the time she danced with locals in a Romanian village, or when she met the mesmerising Masai tribe in Africa. This intrepid traveller has jet-skied the crystal clear waters of Bora Bora and slept under the stars in Rajasthan. Ask her about the best time of day to visit Mt Batur Volcano or which part of the world is best to embark on a camel trek.
Despite having had so many incredible worldly experiences, Karen will freely admit that one of her favourite travel memories is shopping at the markets in Bali, with her children. So whether you're looking for something nearby and simple or afar and adventurous, Karen will know how to help.
